Course Reflective Narrative
In class 304, I learned about Hispanic American literature, its historical context, verse, and structure. This course has contributed to MLO 3. The literary texts we studied were narrative, poetry, and drama. These aesthetic movements are romance (the Middle Ages), romanticism, modernism, mysticism, postmodernism, Generation of '98, and the avant-garde. The activities during class were individually and in groups, it consisted of discussing the texts studied and doing our own analysis. In each class, we learned a new literary text in which we were able to learn the objectives and aesthetic features that each text contains. The instructor always explained to us in detail what was studied and answered our questions. Also, the structure towards a review of the class prior to the beginning of each class helped me to better understand the materials seen. Likewise, I enjoyed learning about different renowned authors such as Amado Nervo, Federico Garcia Lorca, Ruben Dario, and others, who have contributed to Latin American literature. Learning from Hispanic American literature has helped me understand how different authors from different countries have contributed with their poems to express their ideas, feelings, dreams, and concerns. Many of these poems convey to the reader themes such as a social critique of politics and religion. Without a doubt, these texts have helped me to learn about the history of literature. At the end of the semester, we made oral presentations that consisted of explaining a literary movement. In this class, I have been able to practice my reading and writing and at the same time learn new intellectual and cultural knowledge.
